Even the drama club don't have the respect for her they once did, even when she pulls her best Mrs Robinson on a new student who accidentally grazes her breast. Gabriella is so dull it pains Sharpey to even look at her. Leading ladies are not supposed to be like that. They are not about pastels, muted edges and demure, shiny, nude lipgloss. They are about brash colours and brasher statements, clothing so tight it brings them out in hives, bitchy putdowns and bodies that make boys' mouths go suddenly dry when they see them jogging past in tight-tight-tight hotpants and knee socks. Like, who even dresses like that to go jogging, seriously? It's all about the statement, though, so a little bit of discomfort is worth it for Sharpey to retain her hottest-of-the-hot title. [ 2 ohs ] has it come to this?] [09 Apr 2004|01:31am] Which do you like/dislike? Which should I continue? I need to check the Tonks thing before continuation but I love the idea of it. Draco Malfoy after the war was an odd sight to see - no longe resplendent in deep, plush robes he was reduced to immaculately kept but poorly cut hand-me-downs he was given by those women in the Ministry who pitied his sallow, pointed face and bony, fragile wrists. It was pitiful to see him like that, but Harry still felt a slow curl of laughter in his stomach mixed with a pang of guilt in the knowledge that Draco had helped, in his own way, but he would eternally suffer for not quite doing enough - for not quite reaching Harry's standards of heroism, for never quite making it as a death eater, for not being the best on either side. --- It was ironic really that the final battle which had erased Harry's scar had left Draco with one of his own - angry red and shaped almost identically to its predecessor in such a clear parody that Malfoy stopped slicking his hair back and let it grow wispy and lank over his forehead in a shabby attempt to stop the laughter in Weasley's gaze every time their eyes met. --- Whenever Tonks leaves Harry she changes herself back into her most typical form - the one she wore at school and used as her public face before the war. Harry thinks that her resolute and regular transformation back into herself, coupled with one last cloying stare before she pads back to her own room, or tent, or wherever they're staying, means something, but he is not quite sure what. Maybe a reminder that for a while she may look like Draco, she may look like Hermione, she may look like Ron, but she is not them. Not inside. Not where it counts.
